Is MUDGIRL Only for Athletic People?

It is one of the most common reasons women hesitate to sign up. They look at the photos of women climbing over obstacles and covered in mud and think, that looks amazing, but I am not athletic enough for that.
So let us clear this up right away. No, MUDGIRL is not only for athletic people. It was never designed to be.

You Do Not Have to Be an Athlete
MUDGIRL is not a competition. It is not timed. There is no pace you need to keep and no one measuring how fast or how strong you are.
The course is 3 miles, and most people take anywhere from 40 to 90 minutes to finish. You can walk every step of it if you want to. You can stop and rest whenever you need to. You can take your time and treat the whole thing as a fun day out rather than an athletic feat.
Women of every fitness level show up to MUDGIRL. Regular runners and people who have not exercised in years. Women in their twenties and women in their sixties. First-timers who signed up on a dare and veterans on their fifth race. The course is built to welcome all of them.
No Obstacle Is Required
This is the part that surprises the most people. None of the 17+ obstacles are mandatory.
If you arrive at an obstacle that feels like too much, you go around it. No penalty. No judgment. No one asking why. The obstacles are there to be enjoyed and attempted at whatever level you are comfortable with.
That means you are always in control of your own experience. You can challenge yourself as much or as little as you want on any given obstacle, and every choice you make is the right one.
The Course Meets You Where You Are
Because there is no clock and nothing is mandatory, MUDGIRL naturally adjusts to whoever is running it.
Feeling strong and want to take on every obstacle at full speed? Go for it. Want to walk the course, skip the ones that intimidate you, and just soak up the atmosphere? That works too. Two women can have completely different days on the same course and both walk away having done it exactly right.
You are not being asked to rise to the course's level. The course adapts to yours.
Everyone Crosses the Same Finish Line
Here is what does not change based on fitness level: the finish.
The woman who ran the whole thing and the woman who walked it and skipped half the obstacles cross the same finish line and earn the same medal. Both did something worth being proud of. Both showed up and saw it through.
MUDGIRL was built on the idea that this experience should be available to every woman who wants it, not just the ones who already consider themselves athletes. If you have been holding back because you do not think you are fit enough, that is the exact hesitation this event was designed to overcome.
You do not need to be an athlete.
You just need to want to be there.
