What to Bring & Wear to MUDGIRL

A mud run comes with one obvious question: what do you actually bring and wear when you know you are going to get filthy?

Nothing fancy, it turns out. A few smart choices will keep you comfortable before, during, and after the mud. Here is everything worth knowing.

What to Wear

The goal is simple: clothes you can move in and do not mind getting completely covered in mud. Keep it light, athletic, and secure.

Wear:

  • A training tee or tank top

  • Athletic leggings or shorts

  • Running shoes you do not mind trashing

Skip:

  • Boots (too heavy once wet)

  • Skirts or dresses

  • Rain coats

  • Jewelry (you do not want to lose it in the mud)

What to Bring

A few essentials will get you through check-in and cleaned up afterward:

  • Your ticket with the QR code, pulled up on your phone

  • A photo ID

  • A debit or credit card (MUDGIRL is a cashless event)

  • A reusable water bottle (there are water stations on course to refill)

  • A full change of clothes

  • A towel

  • An extra pair of shoes

Pro Tips

A few little things the veterans always do:

  • Check the weather the night before and dress accordingly. Bring layers or extra clothes if it is going to be cool.

  • Pack a few garbage bags. They are perfect for stashing your muddy clothes and protecting your car seats on the drive home.

  • Double-check that your waiver is marked as "signed" on your order confirmation before you leave.

Where to Put Your Stuff

Wondering what happens to your things while you run? Bag drop is available on site for $5, so you can store your belongings safely and pick them up when you finish. Leave anything you would hate to lose at home or in the car, mud and valuables do not mix.

After the race, there are women-only rinsing stations to get the mud off and an enclosed changing tent to switch into your dry clothes. Just keep your rinse quick to save water. The long shower can wait until home.

Ready for the Mud

Here is the good news: none of this is complicated. You do not need special gear, a big packing list, or anything you would have to go out and buy. Wear clothes you are happy to ruin, pack a bag to clean up and change into afterward, and bring your ticket, ID, and a card. That is genuinely all it takes.

Get those basics sorted and you can stop worrying about logistics and start looking forward to the fun part. The mud, the obstacles, the finish line, and the feeling of doing something you will be talking about for weeks.

Pack smart, show up ready, and enjoy every muddy minute.
