What to Expect on Race Day

If you have never done MUDGIRL before, race day can feel like a lot of unknowns. What time do you show up? Where do you put your stuff? What actually happens once you get there?

Here is exactly how the day goes, start to finish.

Before You Go

A few things to sort out ahead of time so race morning is smooth:

Make sure your waiver is marked as "signed" on your order confirmation. Plan to arrive 45 to 60 minutes before your run time. MUDGIRL is a cashless event, so bring a debit or credit card rather than cash.

Pack a bag with a full change of clothes, a towel, and an extra pair of shoes. Throw in a few garbage bags too, they are perfect for your muddy clothes and for protecting your car seats on the drive home.

Wear athletic clothes you do not mind getting muddy: a training tee or tank, leggings or shorts, and running shoes. Skip boots, skirts, dresses, rain coats, and jewelry.

Step 1: Park

When you arrive, follow signs to parking. Accessible parking is available, and carpooling is encouraged since it keeps the lot from filling up.

Parking prices vary by venue, so check your specific event page ahead of time.

Step 2: Register

Head to registration with your ticket QR code and your ID. Having the QR code pulled up on your phone makes this faster.

This is where you will pick up your race swag, which includes your race bag, headband, wristband, and tattoos.

Step 3: The Festival

Before your wave, you will have time in the festival area. This is your home base.

Here you will find:

• Bag drop to store your belongings ($5)

• Changing rooms and rinsing stations

• Water stations and restrooms

• Partner booths to check out

• The MUDGIRL shop

Make sure you keep an eye on the time so you are ready for your wave.

Step 4: Start

When it is close to your start time, locate the start line flags and make your way to the start tunnel at the Cargo Pyramid.

There will be a warm-up with our gym partner to get you loose and ready.

Then you are off.

Your Race

The course is 3 miles with 17+ obstacles, and it usually takes anywhere from 40 to 90 minutes. This is not a timed event or a competition, so you go at whatever pace feels right.

None of the obstacles are mandatory. If one is not for you, you can go around it, no explanation needed.

There will be at least 2 water stations on the course, so bring a reusable water bottle or grab one at the shop.

Four photographers will be out on the course capturing the day, so smile when you see them.

After You Finish

Every single person who crosses the finish line earns a medal.

Once you are done, the festival has everything you need to clean up and refuel. There are women-only rinsing stations to get the excess mud off, plus an enclosed changing tent to switch into dry clothes.

Grab food from the food trucks, hit the shop, and pick up your bag from bag drop.

Your free race photos will be taken by our photographers out on the course. They will be available for you to download online a few days after the event.

Bringing a Cheering Squad?

Spectators are welcome and make the day even better. A few things worth passing along to anyone coming to cheer you on:

Spectator tickets are $10 online or $15 at the gate, and kids 16 and under are free. Buying online in advance saves them a few dollars and time at the entrance.

Plans Change? No Problem

Life happens, and MUDGIRL is flexible if something comes up.

You can update your information, change your wave time, or transfer your ticket to someone else online through your Runner Account up to 24 hours before race day. Name changes made onsite come with a $20 fee, so it is easier to sort any changes in advance.

If you cannot attend at all, you can exchange your ticket for a voucher from your Runner Account, either before or after race day, and use that credit toward any future MUDGIRL.

One Last Thing

The race is outdoors, rain or shine, with your safety as the top priority. If extreme weather ever becomes a factor, updates go out through the website, social media, and email or SMS. Unless you hear otherwise, the race is on.

That is the whole day, from parking lot to finish line. Now that you know what to expect, the only thing left to do is to show up.
