Meet our Mudgirl Ambassador: Krystine.

Updated: Apr 18

My name is Krystine and I am an ambassador in Quebec!

As far back as I can remember, cancer was taking its toll close to me - my grandma, my other grandpa, and then 2 aunts, friends and acquaintances. I was very young that I wished I had money to pay for the best medicine in the world to finally cure my grandma, mistakenly believing that I would save her. I saw their suffering, their fatigue, their difficulties BUT I also saw their strength, their resilience and their stubbornness against this disease. I am lucky, in my job, to be able to bring a little joy and sweetness every day to the daily lives of people with cancer and their families. I am the Director of Services at the Association du Cancer de l'Est du Québec, an NPO whose mission is to humanize services for people with cancer and their loved ones, to raise awareness of the risks of cancer and to support the fight against cancer.

And what about the MUDGIRL race. I'm not the sportiest, in fact, I don't really like running but MUDGIRL is different. It is a race that unites women for a cause. When in the course I found it more difficult, I thought of all its people who undergo the treatments and their side effects, and then I continued to put one foot in front of the other, determined to cross this finish line. And for the 2nd time this year I did it. I was filled with pride, I felt accomplished. Accessible events, an adapted course, don't hesitate and get started. It is now an annual event for me and my friends. A moment to find yourself as a woman, to run for the cause. A moment to surpass oneself but above all a moment to be grateful to be alive and healthy. Thank you MUDGIRL! Krystine Plourde
